Economic Development

The Highlands region (Jackson, Overton, Putnam, and White Counties and their cities) has elevated its economic game to match its terrain. Highlands leaders - supported by their chambers, city/county governments and key institutions - have advanced the Highlands in six important ways:

Having remarkably cooperative arrangements among the founding counties.

Building several business parks in various phases of development.

Recruiting target opportunities and performing economic development research.

Utilizing a TVA-based inventory of available facilities and land.

Having an excellent working relationship with Tennessee Valley Authority and the state of Tennessee.

Creating a multi-year strategic plan
